The son of Benkos are descendants of escaped slave who founded the first free town in Colombia in the early eighteenth century. African culture in Colombia view and told through the prism of their music: the sound palenquero, music from Cubaarrived in Colombia in 1920. The Champeta, music exclusively dedicated to the poor and dispossessed.
