On the road to Compostela

De Jean-Pierre Beaurenaut

Every year, when Spring blossoms, thousands of walkers set off from everywhere in Europe. Some come from the North and the East - Germans, Belgians, Poles, Swiss, Austrians - who meet the French walkers on the historic roads of Paris, Vezelay or the Puy en Velay. Others from the South - Italians- who walk up the famous Via Romea, the Ancient Mediteranean route which is common to the pilgrimages of Saint Peter in Roma and Santiago de Compostela.
